Magnificent Georgian house with exceptional Robert Adam interiors and painting collection.

  • House with magnificent decoration showcasing Adam interiors and painting collection
  • Rolling wooded landscaped park with 19th-century gardens, orangery and follies
  • Location star of 'Sense and Sensibility'.

Saltram stands high above the River Plym in a rolling and wooded landscaped park that now provides precious green space on the outskirts of Plymouth.

The house, with its magnificent decoration and original contents, was largely created between the 1740s and 1820s by three generations of the Parker family. It features some of Robert Adam's finest rooms, exquisite plasterwork ceilings, original Chinese wallpapers and an exceptional collection of paintings, including many by Sir Joshua Reynolds and Angelica Kauffmann.

The gardens are predominantly 19th-century and contain an Orangery and several follies, as well as beautiful shrubberies and imposing specimen trees. The house starred as Norland Park, the Dashwood's family home in the film adaptation of Sense and Sensibility.
