The finest museum of fashionable dress in the world located in the magnificent Georgian Assembly Rooms in Bath offering more than 120 figures dressed in original garments on display.
The story of fashion is brought alive at the Fashion Museum, a world-class collection of contemporary and historical dress. New displays have brought about a transformation of the major part of the museum galleries. The impressive collection of 30,000 items that charts the history of fashion from the 16th Century to the present day has been re-displayed in an accessible, interesting and entertaining new way.
Highlights for 2007 include: Fashion in Bath until 2 January 2008, Pockets of History until 2 September 2007; 1977, a photographic display of 70's punk, until 31 December 2007; Pick of the Bunch, a celebration of floral frocks, 17 July - 27 August 2007. Interactive displays: 'Corsets and Crinolines'. Dress of the Year collection from the 1960's to the present day. Audioguides in 7 languages included in admission price. Cafe on site, gift shop and fashion bookshop.
