Brean Down, rich in wildlife and history, is one of the most striking landscapes of the Somerset coastline, extending 1.5 miles into the Bristol Channel.
At its most seaward point, a Palmerston Fort, built in 1865 and then re-armed in the Second World War, provides a unique insight into Brean's past.
New programme of guided walks for 2005. The Fort and Down are reached by a steep climb from the car park.
The cliffs are extremely steep. Please stay on the main paths, keep dogs on leads and wear suitable footwear. The beach can be dangerous - watch out for soft sand and fast incoming tieds.
